Grand Opening of the District 2 Sheriff's Office

A Ribbon Cutting/Grand Opening was held at the District 2 Sheriff's Office in the Victoria Square shopping center. Seven months after a tornado destroyed a law enforcement hub in Northwest Volusia County, the Sheriff’s Office is ready to welcome the public to the agency's new home base in DeLand, located at 1706 S. Woodland Blvd. The new site is about a half-mile from the district office at the Woodland Plaza that was destroyed by a tornado that ripped through DeLand on Feb. 2. The district staff houses the Sheriff's Office law enforcement operations for Northwest Volusia. The staff temporarily shared office space at the Sheriff's Office hangar at DeLand Municipal airport while waiting to move into the 6,250 square-foot site at the shopping center. "We're glad to be back in the neighborhood," said Captain David Brannon, who commands the district headquarters. "We look forward to visiting with the community and having residents come see where we work. This is their office, and they're the ones we're here to serve and protect."
