Beautification Award
Lake Helen Equestrian and Environmental Recreation Center
The Beautification Committee of the DeLand Area Chamber of Commerce was proud to present the September Beautification Award to Lake Helen Equestrian and Environmental Recreation Center.

The Trailhead Facility was constructed with the supervision of Commissioner Lou Benton and funding through a Volusia County Echo Grant. The Horse Arena and Stall Buildings were constructed with a Florida State FRDAP Grant along with financial and material donations. Area citizens and businesses provided the volunteer labor.

Three large live oak trees were donated by Progress Energy on Arbor Day 2006 and another live oak was donated by the family of Ginger Puryea in memory of her husband.
